The Kochi City police arrested a man accused of cheating job aspirants to the tune of around ₹90 lakh from Mumbai.
The arrested is Robin Zechariah, 40, of Thiruvalla. He allegedly pulled off the fraud by promising jobs in West Asia. The Kannamaly police arrested him in a case registered on a petition by a Puthanthodu resident who was allegedly cheated of ₹4.95 lakh. He was reportedly promised a placement in an oil rig in Kuwait. Robin allegedly went into hiding after the victim was asked to go to Mumbai to proceed to Kuwait.
The victim reportedly stayed back in Mumbai for around two months but could not trace the accused. He returned to Kochi and lodged a police complaint. The police tracked down Robin by following the mobile tower location. He was nabbed when he ventured out of his hotel room.
Robin was produced in court and remanded.
