“Resign. The entire time is spent on forming and toppling Governments. The mind is busy for all 365 days of the year, plotting to eliminate political opponents. People’s safety is left to the Gods. Now even Lord Ram is fed up with these people. Resign. Do a favour towards the country,” Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut posted on his social media account on X, along with a photograph of Amit Shah. The post went viral in a few minutes.

Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra and the financial capital of the country, was put on an alert. “All zones are on an alert. Patrolling has been intensified. Surprise checks are being conducted,” a senior official of the Mumbai Police told The Hindu.

Maharashtra Government was in the process of collating the data about the visitors from the State who had gone to Pahalgam for tourism. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis identified the two deceased from Maharashtra as Dilip Disle and Atul Mone. He said that a couple of other tourists from the State were injured.

Manik Patel, Bhalchandra Rao, Simran Rupchandani were identified to be among them. “A family from Nagpur was present at the site of the terror attack. They jumped from a hill after listening to gunshots. Simran Rupchandani got injured in this and fractured her leg. Tilak and Garv Rupchandani were with her. The three of them are safe,” CM Fadnavis said.

He also confirmed that a Pune couple was injured. “Santosh Jagdale of Pune has been shot in a cowardly terrorist attack in Kashmir and is undergoing treatment. His wife is also reportedly injured. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to his family members in Pune over the phone and assured them of all possible help from the State Government,” the Chief Minister’s Office posted on its official social media account on X.

Meanwhile, the AIMIM condemned the terror attack. “We strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam. The perpetrators should be given the strictest punishment. Terrorism has no religion. Even in the peak time of terror, the tourists weren’t ever attacked. Why is this happening now?” asked AIMIM leader Waris Pathan.
