Botcha Satyanarayana, Leader of the Opposition in AP Legislative Council, stated in a press release that the own tax revenue of Government of Andhra Pradesh registered an abysmally low year – on – year growth of 2.16% in FY 2024 – 25 (up to February 2025) whereas the real GSDP growth has been estimated by the NDA Government to be 8.21%.
The non – tax revenue registered a year – on – year decline of 33.35% in the first 11 months of FY 2024 – 25, and the capital expenditure fell by 42.78% during the same period.
These figures were shocking in the context of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s claim on the basis of an English news article to have achieved ‘robust growth’ in GSDP for FY 2024 – 25, Mr. Satyanarayana said.
He pointed out that the own tax revenue of the Government of India registered a year – on – year growth of 10.87% in FY 2024 – 25 (up to February 2025) and the real GDP growth for the same FY was estimated at 6.48%, which was justifiable.
The own tax revenue of Tamil Nadu registered a year – on – year growth of 13.01% in FY 2024 – 25 (up to February 2025) and the State’s real GSDP growth for the year was estimated at 9.69%.
Given NDA Government’s discouraging performance, how does the estimated real GSDP growth rate of 8.21% indicate its administrative competence, Mr. Satyanarayana wondered, and insisted that the CM’s projection was nothing but ‘political trickery’. Overall retail sales stood at 2,45,58,437 units in the 2023-24 fiscal.
