The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday directed the police to not take coercive action against Anuradha, the second wife of former underworld operative late N. Muthappa Rai, subject to her cooperating for the investigation into the recent case of shooting at Rikki Rai, son of Muthappa Rai from his first wife.
Also, the Court directed the police to proceed with the investigation into the case in accordance with law but they should not summon her without following the due process of law.
Justice Hemant Chandangoudar passed the interim order on the petition filed by Ms. Anuradha, who has been arraigned as accused number two in the FIR registered based on the complaint lodged by Basavaraju G., driver of Rikki Rai.
In the petition, Ms. Anuradha has claimed that the complaint lodged in connection with the shooting incident has no ingredients to attract any offence against her and for arraigning her as one of the accused persons.
It has also been claimed in the petition that she had disputes with Rikki Rai and his brother, and all those disputes were civil in nature; and more importantly all the disputes were settled last year through a mutually agreed compromise decree before a civil court in Bengaluru during October-December, 2024.
Alleging that her name was included in the complaint only with an intention to harass her, she has stated that she on Europe tour since April 14 on a vacation with her daughter from the first marriage.
