Ex-convict arrested for burglary

An ex-convict was arrested by Subramanyapura police on March 23 for allegedly stealing gold, silver, and cash from a house in AGS Layout in Uttarahalli.

The accused, identified as Sridhar. T. S. from Hesaraghatta, was arrested on March 23 near Doddabidarakallu.

According to the police, the complainant Raghavendra Praveen and his family had gone to Prayagraj for Kumbh Mela on February 23, and when they returned on February 26, they noticed that a break-in has taken place and 387 grams of gold, silver coins weighing 100 grams, and ₹50,000 cash was missing. Mr. Praveen then lodged a complaint with the police.

The accused allegedly confessed to the crime and said that another person, whom he had met while he was in Parappana Agrahara jail, helped him with the burglary. The duo was allegedly released from jail in February first week.

Sridhar allegedly also told the police that with the help of his two acquaintances, he had pledged some gold articles at a non-banking financial company for a loan while the remaining gold, silver and the cash was with the other person who had helped him.

The police then recovered 202.9 grams of gold worth ₹16 lakh from the company on March 26, and they are on the lookout for the other person.
