Heatwave and warm night alert to several parts of Telangana as nine districts record over 44°C insidelooknews

Telangana continues to reel under intense heat as temperatures show no sign of dipping. On Tuesday (April 22, 2025), nine districts in the State recorded maximum temperatures of 44°C or higher, according to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS).

The maximum temperatures

The highest temperature was reported from Dasturabad in Nirmal district, where the mercury touched 44.5°C. Close on its heels were Mavala in Adilabad and Mendora in Nizamabad, both registering 44.4°C. Bheemaram in Mancherial recorded a maximum of 44.3°C, followed by 44.2°C in Mahadevpur (Jayashankar Bhupalpally). Dharmapuri (Jagtial), Bejjur (Kumuram Bheem Asifabad), and Anthergoan (Peddapalli) recorded 44.1°C, while Gangadhara in Karimnagar hit 44°C.

Between 41°C and 44°C in remaining 24 dists

Across the remaining 24 districts, temperatures ranged between 41°C and 44°C. Urban areas were not spared either, Ghatkesar in Medchal Malkajgiri touched 41.7°C, and Hyderabad’s Amberpet recorded 41.6°C.

Heatwave and warm night alert

Amid the sweltering conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave and warm night alerts for several districts. On Thursday (April 24, 2025) both heatwave and warm night conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Adilabad; Kumuram Bheem Asifabad; Mancherial; Nirmal; Nizamabad; Jagtial; Medak; Kamareddy and Mahabubnagar.

Heatwave conditions alone are likely in parts of Rajanna Sircilla; Karimnagar; Peddapalli; Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu. Meanwhile, warm night conditions were forecast for districts including Bhadradri Kothagudem; Khammam; Nalgonda; Suryapet; Mahabubabad; Warangal; Hanamkonda and Hyderabad, among others.
