Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced the arrangement of a special flight for the stranded tourists of the State, even as Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde rushed to Jammu and Kashmir in a private flight.
The special flight is slated to bring back 83 tourists to Mumbai from Srinagar.
“Efforts are underway to arrange one more special flight too tomorrow itself and preparation of passenger list for the same is underway. Union MoS Murlidhar Mohol is providing complete support for the same. All expenses for this special flight will be borne by the State Government,” the Chief Minister’s Office stated on Tuesday (April 22, 2025). It also announced ex-gratia payment of Rs Five Lakh to the families of the deceased, and ₹50,000 for the injured.
The government issued a list of the 83 passengers who were to board the Indigo flight on Wednesday (April 23, 2025). Meanwhile, NCP SP leader Supriya Sule demanded that the Union government should consider “concessionary fares on all transport from Jammu and Kashmir to help tourists return home safely.”
Maharashtra government announced the appointment of two officers at the State Emergency Operations Center to specially assist the affected citizens from Maharashtra. The government stated in a press release – In the wake of the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, two officers have been appointed to assist affected citizens from Maharashtra at the State Emergency Operations Center (Ministry Control Room), informed Disaster Management Director Satishkumar Khadke.
Manager of the State Emergency Operations Center, Visheshkar Suryawanshi, and Control Room Officer Nitin Masale have been appointed at the Ministry Control Room. In light of the incident, Mr. Khadke has urged citizens or their relatives seeking assistance to contact the Ministry Control Room through the following numbers:
