BSP leader Ms. Mayawati has readmitted her nephew Akash Anand into the party after he tendered a public apology for statements that caused his expulsion.
Ms. Mayawati said on X, “I have taken the decision to give another opportunity to Mr. Akash Anand in response to his publicly admitting his mistakes in his posts today on X and showing full respect to his seniors, not giving in to his father-in-law’s words and dedicating his life to the BSP party and movement.”
The BSP president and former four-time U.P. CM added, “I am healthy now, and as long as I am healthy, like Kanshi Ram ji, I will continue to work for the party and the movement with full devotion and commitment. In such a situation, there is no question of appointing someone as my successor. I am firm on my decision and will remain so.”
Earlier on Sunday Mr. Akash Anand issued a public apology to the party president, Mayawati, and expressed his desire to return to the party.
“I consider the National President of the BSP, four-time Chief Minister of U.P., and many-time Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respected Ms. Mayawati Ji, as my only political guru and ideal. Today I take this vow that I will not let my relations and especially my in-laws influence me and hurt the interests of the Bahujan Samaj Party. Not only this, I also apologise for my tweet made a few days ago, due to which Behanji (Mayawati) expelled me from the party. I will ensure that I will not take any advice from any relatives or advisors for any of my political decisions. I will only follow the guidelines given by Mayawati Ji,” Mr. Anand wrote on X.
The former BSP leader asked to be forgiven and allowed to work for the party again.
“I appeal to respected Mayawati ji to forgive all my mistakes and give me a chance to work for the party again; for this I will always be grateful to her. I will not make such mistakes in the future, which hurt the self-respect and self-esteem of the party and respected Mayawati Ji,” added Mr. Anand.
