NMDC slashes iron ore prices

State-owned NMDC has reduced iron ore prices by ₹600 a tonne of Baila Lump and by ₹500 for the same quantity of Fines effective July 1.

The new, per tonne price of Baila Lump is at ₹5,700 and that of Baila Fines is at ₹4,850, India’s largest iron ore producer said in a filing. It is for the third month consecutively this fiscal the company has revised prices of the key raw material for steel.

In June, it NMDC had priced Baila Lump at ₹6,300 and Baila Fines at ₹5,350. In May, it had raised the iron ore prices by ₹440 to ₹6,440 for Baila Lump and ₹5,500 for Baila Fines. These are FOR prices inclusive of royalty, DMF, NMET and exclusive of cess, forest permit fee, transit fee, GST, environmental cess and other taxes.

The latest revision is the fourth in 2025 and peg the prices below the January prices of ₹6,000 for lump and ₹5,060 for Fines. NMDC share price was 2.39% lower at ₹68.35 apiece on the BSE around 10 a.m. on Tuesday (July 1, 2025).
