Over 4,000 police personnel will benefit from the allotment of vacant flats at the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) Flats in Chennai, in accordance with the announcement made by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in the Assembly on Tuesday.
At weekly grievance redressal camps conducted by Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun, over 3,461 police personnel including two Deputy Commissioners and four Commissioners, submitted petitions requesting the allotment of quarters to them.
Following which, Mr. Arun proposed to the government that vacant flats of the TNHB in Ambattur, Ayapakkam, Sholinganallur, Shenoy Nagar, M.K.B. Nagar, and Nolambur could be allotted to police personnel who required it, since there were no vacancies in the city’s police quarters. He also requested the authorities concerned to deduct the house rent allowance as per norms. The Police Commissioner sent separate proposals to the government and the TNHB.
During the demands for grants for the Police Department, Mr. Stalin said to fulfil housing allotment demands of police personnel in Chennai, Tambaram, Avadi, and Coimbatore, TNHB flats in Sholinganallur, M.K.B. Nagar, Ambattur, Ayapakkam, and at Ganapathy in Coimbatore would be arranged for the use of the police personnel.
