The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that left at least 26 people dead and over 20 injured, has prompted strong reactions from across the Indian film industry. Prominent actors, filmmakers, and public figures have condemned the violence, offering condolences and demanding accountability.

Akshay Kumar was among the first to respond, calling the attack “sheer evil” and expressing his horror over the killing of innocent civilians. “Horrified to know of the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam… Prayers for their families,” he wrote on X.
Actor Sanjay Dutt issued a sharp reaction, urging the government to act. “They killed our people in cold blood. This can’t be forgiven,” he posted, appealing to top leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for a strong response.
Hina Khan, who is currently in Kashmir, responded to the news with visible shock. She posted a brief but emotional message on Instagram Stories: “Pahalgam… Why… Why”.
Vicky Kaushal also shared his grief, saying, “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members who lost their loved ones in the absolutely inhumane act of terrorism in Pahalgam.” He extended his prayers and support to those affected.
Sonu Sood called the attack “unacceptable” and emphasized that terrorism should have no place in a civilized world. “Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Kashmir’s #Pahalgam,” he wrote.
Filmmaker Karan Johar echoed this sentiment, sharing journalist Faye D’Souza’s post and writing, “This is heartbreaking … Prayers to the families and loved ones of the innocent lives lost in this heinous attack…”
Sidharth Malhotra, currently filming Param Sundari in Kerala, called the attack “cowardly” and stated his faith in the armed forces to deliver justice.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared a video response, referencing his film The Kashmir Files to highlight the ongoing violence against Kashmiri Hindus. Describing the attack as a “massacre,” he said, “The Kashmir Files was just a faint glimpse of that reality… yet, many dismissed it as propaganda.”
Actor Janhvi Kapoor posted a detailed note expressing deep anguish and anger. “I pray for justice but I fear this time nothing will be enough to quell this seething anger caused by such repeated acts of terror and evil,” she wrote, adding that she mourns with the families of the victims.
Raveena Tandon shared her frustration over continued violence, writing, “Time we all let go of petty in-house fighting, UNITE and realise the true enemy.”
Actor Vivek Oberoi called for solidarity in the face of such brutality. “A shadow of sorrow falls heavy today, as news of the horrific terror attack in Kashmir breaks our hearts,” he posted on X.
Farhan Akhtar, who was recently in Srinagar for the screening of his film Ground Zero, called the attack “inexcusable” and stood in solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Southern film icons also responded. Mohanlal described the attack as “devastating,” urging the country to hold on to hope and unity. Kamal Haasan wrote, “India stands united — in grief, in resolve, and in our commitment to uphold law, order, and national security.” Veteran Telugu star Chiranjeevi also posted a message, describing the incident as a “ghastly” and “unforgivable” act.
Telugu actor Nani, who recalled spending nearly three weeks shooting in Pahalgam just three months ago. “Speechless,” he wrote on social media. Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, who shot Leo starring Thalapathy Vijay in Pahalgam, also expressed sorrow. “#Leo was entirely shot in #Pahalgam but this is not the memory I wanted to keep with me of this beautiful little town,” he wrote.
The attack took place around 3 PM in Baisaran valley, often called ‘mini Switzerland’ for its scenic beauty. Gunmen reportedly descended from the hills and opened fire on tourists. Prime Minister Modi has cut short his trip to Saudi Arabia to return to India, while Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the incident as “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.”
