BJP’s State political feedback wing member Hanumanthu Uday Bhaskar, on Monday, submitted a representation to Union Minister of State for Communication and Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar regarding the mass migration and low per capita income that have been plaguing Srikakulam district and requested him to set up skill development centres here so that the youth can get jobs in pharmaceutical and other industries locally.
Mr. Bhaskar met the Union Minister at the latter’s office and urged him to establish research centres for coconut, cashew and allied agricultural products here to ensure more income for the local farmers.
“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his recent visit to Budagatlapalem, confirmed that Srikakulam district has the least per capita income in the State. It was an indication of the pathetic situation of the district. That is why I have suggested that a survey be conducted to study the causes of these problems,” he said.
“Fortunately, the Minister [Mr. Sekhar] responded positively to my representation and promised to extend possible support to the most backward district,” said Mr. Bhaskar.
